WHAT TO EXPECT:
|
The doctor will spend ample time with you discussing
what problem brought you to the office. During this consultation,
a detailed history will be taken, and you will have the opportunity
to have your questions answered. Next, a complete examination
will be performed including orthopedic and neurological evaluations,
along with specialized functional testing such as postural analysis,
gait analysis, and joint and muscle testing. X-rays, if required,
can be taken in the comfort of our office. The doctor will utilize
the results of this comprehensive First Visit to formulate an
accurate diagnosis and treatment plan. |
OUR REPORT OF FINDINGS
After your First Visit, you and the doctor will discuss,
his diagnosis, your individualized treatment plan, and short- and
long-term goal planning. In addition, the doctor will answer the
following important questions for you:
- What's wrong?
- How can we treat it?
- How long will it take?
- How much will it cost?
Various treatment options will be explained, along with a recommended
course of care. The doctor will explain to you about the "Three
Types of Care" and assist you in choosing which type of care
is right for you.
- Initial Intensive Phase: Most
patients begin with Initial Intensive Care. Visits tend to be frequent
(usually 2-4 times per week) so that you feel better as quickly
as possible. In addition to your adjustments, the doctor may also
recommend other therapies including muscle stimulation, tractioning,
massage therapy, ultrasound, as well as specific exercises to speed
recovery and relieve your pain. Depending upon your age, condition,
and lifestyle, repeated visits over several weeks my be needed
to reduce your symptoms.
- Rehabilitative Phase: With
most of your obvious symptoms gone, the goal of Rehabilitative
Care is long-term correction of your condition. The frequency of
your visits will be reduced, and there will be greater emphasis
on self-care. Even after you're feeling better, your joints, muscles,
and other soft tissues can take weeks, or even months, to heal.
Continued treatment during this phase will ensure proper healing
and recovery and help to prevent a relapse.
- Wellness Phase: After
you've recovered, it is suggested that you schedule regular, but
less frequent, chiropractic appointments in order to maintain the
improvement you've made. Recommended visit frequency is usually
every 3-6 weeks. If you, or someone you know, has had braces on
their teeth, this phase is similar to getting the braces off, but
needing to wear a retainer for a period of time in order to keep
the teeth nice and straight. Additionally, wellness care can help
catch little problems before they become major concerns. Most patients
choose wellness care to stay feeling great, improve athletic performance,
prevent injury, and to save time and money in the long run.
